Dr Julie Lawrence FRACS

Dr Julie Lawrence is the Medical Director of the Brighton Day Surgery.

Training and Qualifications:

  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon MBBS (Adel)
  • FRACS (Plastic and Reconstructive)

Dr Lawrence graduated from Adelaide University in 1982 and trained initially at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. She commenced training in Plastic Surgery at Christchurch and Wellington (NZ) and obtained specialist qualifications in 1991 as a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr Lawrence undertook post graduate training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1991 at Oxford , England and in specialist hand surgery from 1992 to 1993 at Indianapolis, USA.

Memberships

Dr Lawrence is registered with the South Australian Medical Board and is a member of the Australian Medical Association.

She is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Australian Hand Surgery Society. She is also a member of The South Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the South Australian Hand Surgery Society.

Specialist Experience

Dr Lawrence commenced private practice in Adelaide in 1993. She is a Visiting Specialist in Plastic Surgery at the Repatriation General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Flinders University, and was a Visiting Specialist in Hand Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre from 1995 to 2001.

Dr Lawrence has extensive experience in breast surgery, including, breast reduction and breast augmentation. She is also experienced in abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction (body sculpturing) and facial plastic surgery, including face and neck lifts.

Dr Lawrence also performs laser resurfacing, surgery to correct prominant ears, and is experienced in hand and wrist surgery and all aspects of skin cancer surgery.

 

Dr Angela Basedow MBBS FRCA FANZCA

Dr Angela Basedow is one of the visiting anaesthetists at the Brighton Day Surgery.

Training and qualifications:

Dr Basedow graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1987. Her anaesthetic training was obtained both in Adelaide and the United Kingdom. She has dual specialist qualifications in Anaesthesia for both Australia and the UK.

Memberships

Dr Basedow is registered with the South Australian Medical Board. She is a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaethsetists and the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK.

Specialist Experience

Dr Basedow has been a staff specialist in anaesthesia in both Portsmouth, UK and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. she now combines work in private practice with the Southern Group of Anaesthetic Specialists and as a visiting medical specialist to the RAH. She has a broad range of anaesthetic interests including day surgery, sedation and plastic surgery.
