Wrinkles
Wrinkles (rhytids) are a normal result of aging. Some people have
more wrinkles than others at the same age. Others may dislike the
wrinkles on a particular area of their face.
Wrinkles can be reduced by the use of a variety of dermal filling
agents. Some of theses are derived from animal products and others
are synthetic.
The appearance of lines and wrinkles can be improved a little
or a lot, depending on the severity or depth of wrinkles and the
quantity of the product used.
These dermal filling agents can only be supplied through a registered
medical practitioner who is trained in the use of these products.
The products have varying life spans from temporary - lasting about
three months, to more permanent options.
By treating the wrinkles or lines that bother you - you may feel
more attractive and less conscious of your age. You may like to
have a treatment for a special occasion or as an ongoing process
to keep looking your best.
Expression Lines
Some wrinkles and lines are more prominent with particular facial
expressions. For example - smiling can cause “crow’s feet” lines
around the eyes, frowning can cause lines between the eyebrows and
raising the eyebrows can give horizontal lines on the forehead.
All of these can be minimised therefore reducing the appearance
of theses lines.
Other expression lines that can be treated include:
- down turned corners of the mouth (sad mouth)
- “popply chin” or dimpled chin
- deep chin crease
- prominent “smokers lines” or upper lip lines
- “bunny scrunch” lines on the side of the nose
- lower eyelid lines
- nasal flare
- muscle bands on the neck
The way these are treated is by the use of a neurotoxin that reduces
the movement of the muscles that cause these particular expression
lines. The effect of this treatment lasts 3-4 months.
The commonly treated areas include frown lines, forehead lines
and crow’s feet. All of the lines mentioned above however, can also
be treated.

Pigmentation
Ageing, pregnancy and some other disorders can cause the skin
to become patchy or discoloured. Brown patches can occur, as can
visible veins or redness.
There are various ways of treating these types of pigmentation
including bleaching and laser treatment. We can advise you
on what may be best for your condition.
Skin Texture
Skin texture may also become uneven with age and sun exposure.
This can give a dull, aged appearance. A series of chemical peels
may improve this as well as stimulate new collagen formation and
reduce surface pigmentation.
This treatment will leave your skin feeling extra clean and smooth.
Sun Damage
The harsh Australian climate causes skin damage that accumulates
over many years leading to sun spots, pigmentation, changes in skin
texture, collagen damage and eventually skin cancers including melanoma.
We can assess your skin and recommend preventative and other treatment
options. Skin cancer can be treated at the Brighton Day Surgery.
